Jan. 10 [12:00 EST] -- A decision is expected early this week in the ongoing court battle over the estate of Jerry Garcia that has pitted two of Garcia's ex-wives against each other.
Deborah Koons Garcia (Garcia's last wife) and Carolyn Adams Garcia (also known as "Mountain Girl") are tangling over an estate estimated to be between $6-20 million in a very public battle that is carried daily on Court TV.
Adams Garcia, who lived with the Dead centerpiece off and on from 1966 through the late 80s, is armed with a one-paragraph divorce settlement that Garcia signed in 1993. According to the document, Garcia agreed to pay Adams Garcia no less that $250,000 a year. Koons Garcia stopped the payments shortly after Garcia's death in August of 1995, claiming that the agreement was signed while Garcia was on drugs, and is therefore not valid.
Since Garcia reportedly paid Adams Garcia $400,000 under the one-paragraph agreement, many observers feel that the document will stand up in court.
