April 21 [14:00 EST] -- The post-Grateful Dead road show known as the Further Festival is on again this year following last year's semi-successful attempt at pacifying the travel hungry Deadheads stranded since the death of Jerry Garcia in 1995 and the subsequent retirement of the band.
As well as the former Dead members and their new projects, the tour will feature The Black Crowes, Arlo Guthrie, Bruce Hornsby and Sherri Jackson. It begins June 19th in West Palm Beach, Florida and is scheduled to wrap up in early August on the West Coast.
The Dead projects include guitarist Bob Weir and longtime collaborator Rob Wasserman in their band Ratdog; drummer Mickey Hart, this time with his percussive Planet Drum; and a self-explanatory feature that the artists simply call The Jam. The festival also features a vending village and cybertent.
