Atlanta-based hip-hop outfit Goodie M.O.B. returns this week with its sophomore effort, "Still Standing," and a rather cavalier attitude towards radio airplay.
"I don't think we'll ever go on tour with the intent of trying to make a blatant radio song because I'm like, we don't ever have radio enough, know what I'm saying," the M.O.B.'s C Low Green told our friends in the MTV Radio Network recently. "We make some long songs, and that's all just because we be jammin' man. We feel the music, man. It's nice. It's album music. We don't really care about the radio too tough." [700k Quicktime]
That attitude hasn't stopped the group's new single, "They Don't Dance No Mo," from finding a home on radio.
Goodie M.O.B. is currently preparing to hit the road with The Roots, and plans to bring back the live instrumentation and good vibes that wowed crowds when the group opened for the Fugees.
"For us, we make music for everybody," Big Gimp said. "We want everybody to leave our shows having been filled with good music, [800k Quicktime] and joy just saying, 'Here's a band. They do what they do. There was no violence, no shooting, just people having fun and enjoying the music.' That's what the Goodie M.O.B.'s here for at the end of the day."
The group hadn't firmed up the itinerary for its tour with the Roots yet, but we'll keep you posted.
