October 20 [13:00 EDT] -- Composing classical music seems to be the in-thing to do these days.

Paul McCartney debuted his orchestral "Standing Stone" last week with the London Symphony and Chorus at the Royal Albert Hall with his wife and children in attendance, and now Britain's New Musical Express reports that Goldie has written an hour long classical composition for his mother called "Mother."

NME says the endeavour appears to represent the life of the jungle music king from birth to the present day. Its described as a painful piece--he was separated from his mother at an early age and put into government care, but they have since become reacquainted and reportedly enjoy a close relationship. The composition features a rare vocal from Goldie with additional singing by Diane Charlemaine, who sang on Goldie's hit single "Inner City Life".

The untrained musician composed the piece by singing to tape and handing the cassettes over to an arranger. The original plan was to include the composition on his new album, "Saturnz Return," due in January, but that was not possible due to its length. The record company now has to determine a format and release date for the project.

NME reports that the first single from "Saturnz Return" will be "Digital," a collaboration with KRS-1 scheduled for release later this month. The single will only be available in stores for a week. The new album also features Noel Gallagher playing guitar on a song called "Temper Temper" and may also feature David Bowie singing on a track.

Goldie will also soon be heard on the soundtrack for the movie, "The Jackal" and on tour in The States with Jane's Addiction.
