Garbage has signed on to perform the theme song for the next James Bond movie, according to the "Hollywood Reporter." A spokesperson for the band's label, Almo Sounds, told MTV News that while he could confirm that Garbage was negotiating for the job, he had no knowledge of it being a done deal.

The film, "The World Is Not Enough," is currently wrapping up production in the U.K.. It stars Pierce Brosnan as Bond, Sophie Marceau as Elektra, Robert Carlyle as a deranged villain, John Cleese as "R," Robbie Coltrane as Zukovsky, and jungle music star Goldie as Zukovsky's driver.

The score is being handled by David Arnold, who also did "Godzilla." It's not clear what role, if any, Garbage would have in the song's composition. Previous press reports have indicated that Arnold has already composed a theme and that it was being shopped around to various singers.

Among those previously rumored to be up for the Bond job this time around include "Sporty Spice" Melanie C, Metallica, Madonna, Robbie Williams, and Bjork.

"The World Is Not Enough" is being directed by Michael Apted, whose credits include the Sting documentary "Bring On the Night." It's currently scheduled to hit American theaters on November 19.
