Gang Starr frontman Guru was attacked outside of a New York recording studio last Friday. At approximately 2:30 a.m., he was ambushed by three men in ski masks when he went out to his car to get some CDs.

The assailants pistol-whipped him and robbed him of more than $7,000 worth of jewelry, his car keys, and a cell phone.

He was treated at a local hospital and released.

As we reported earlier this month, Guru and his partner, DJ Premier, will next be heard on a greatest hits CD called "Full Clip: A Decade of Gang Starr" that is due in March (see "Gang Starr Mixes Old And New For Upcoming Collection").
