After leading Gang Starr back into the Top 10 with the release of "Moment of Truth," DJ Premier capped off 1998 with a pair of high-profile collaborations by remixing Janet Jackson's "Go Deep" and producing D'Angelo's "Devil's Pie."

"Devil's Pie" appeared on the "Belly" soundtrack, and is set be resurrected for D'Angelo's forthcoming album, "Voodoo," due out in a few weeks. Regardless of the recent extracurricular recording activity, DJ Premier maintains that he's not just a producing gun-for-hire, and says that he has a different, more personal criteria for his collaborations.

"It's about feeling," DJ Premier told the MTV Radio Network, "if a record doesn't have feeling, then I can't listen to it. I study everything. I don't shut down anything that comes my way, but I do analyze it and if it has something I can live off of, then it's hot -- bottom line."

DJ Premier has just completed tracks for Charli Baltimore and Nas, and is preparing to work with Rakim, Sauce Money, Big Shug and a new group, Fabbidden. Premier is also producing two new tracks for a Gang Starr greatest hits package, entitled "Full Clip: A Decade of Gang Starr," which is due in stores on March 23.
