Lauryn Hill is reaping the commercial benefits of winning big at least week's Grammy Awards, as her "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" doubled its sales last week by moving close to a quarter of a million copies.
Hill took a break from her current tour both to appear and perform at the Grammys, and while in Los Angeles, MTV News' Serena Altschul had a chance to sit down and talk with Hill about her live show as well as her opening act, the Outkast.
"We have a huge band," Hill said of her touring ensemble, "it's really kind of unlike anything in hip-hop before. I've got a horn section and all these people onstage. It's a lot of fun, we bring the music to you live."
"How it's going with the Outkast? Is that great," Altschul asked.
"Love, love, it's all love," Hill replied, "we call them the deacons, because they get up there and slam it every night. It's raw and beautiful." [28.8 RealVideo]
Lauryn Hill and Outkast are set to return to L.A. on Friday -- this time to perform a concert at the Universal Theater. The tour is scheduled to wrap-up in Hill's home state of New Jersey on April 1.
