For Lauryn Hill, it's all in the family.
The Grammy-winning singer, whose U.S. tour wraps next week, has reportedly been offered the part of Rita Marley, Hill's own future mother-in-law, in Warner Bros.' planned Bob Marley biopic.
According to the "Chicago Sun-Times," Warner Bros. is currently negotiating with Hill to play Rita, wife of the reggae icon. The project could use the signing of Hill to help bolster the production, which hit an impasse a few months ago after director Ron Shelton withdrew from the picture.
Having Lauryn portray Rita would seem to be a natural fit, as Rita was also a singer for the I-Threes, the female vocal trio that backed-up Bob Marley as part of the Wailers from 1974 until Bob's death in 1981 of cancer. Lauryn Hill also has two children by fiance Rohan Marley, one of Bob and Rita's sons.
No word yet on who else might be attached to the Marley film, but we'll keep you posted.
