Children in East Orange, New Jersey will once again have a safe alternative to traditional trick-or-treating this Halloween, thanks in part to Lauryn Hill's Refugee Project.

The Refugee Project has teamed up with the organization 100 Black Men Of New Jersey for the third annual Halloween Scare Affair, which will be taking place on Saturday, October 30.

An East Orange mansion will be transformed into a haunted house for the event, which also promises a carnival theme, Mardi Gras and Caribbean-inspired costumes, and stilt walkers.

Children ages between the ages of four and 14 who visit the mansion will get a grand tour of the haunted grounds and receive a bag of candy, toothbrushes, prizes, and other goodies afterward.

Older visitors and chaperones needn't feel left out; the event will also serve as a voter registration drive and provide health screenings, while various organizations will be on hand to supply vital insurance information.
