It took the teen thriller film "Disturbing Behavior" to give the Los Angeles-based the Flys their first hit, "Got You (Where I Want You)," and the success of the initial single off the Flys' major label debut, "Holiday Man," has far surpassed that of the film that popularized it.
Led by brothers Adam and Joshua Paskowitz, the Flys hail from a family noted for its surfing background and have even helped promote their own line of sunglasses, the Black Flys Eyewear company, which have been sported on a range of Southern California bands, including the Offspring.
But despite the contacts, the brothers Paskowitz told MTV News that the agreement they struck to be included on the "Disturbing Behavior" soundtrack wasn't quite your typical, for-scale deal.
"We met Katie and James Morrison," Adam Paskowitz said, My deal was, if we're going to do your movie, then you come do our video, [although] we didn't really want James Morrison in our video."
"He's a crazy guy," interjected brother Joshua.
"He's so cute," added Adam, "chicks were like, 'Oh, my god!'"
"I know," Joshua said, "he's making us look bad."
The Flys' new album, "Holiday Man," arrived in stores last week, and the band is currently enjoying the waning days of summer while planning to hit the road for a tour later this year.
