July 9 [12:00 EDT] -- A new Brit band, in reality called Five but inevitably dubbed The Spice Boys by the press, will be making their debut this fall.

Five, referred to by the English trade publication Dot Music as a "boy band," are the creation of Safe Management's Chris and Bob Herbert, the team that so successfully created the Spice Girls three years ago.

The band's debut single will be a tune called "Slam Dunk Da Funk." The song has a double shot at achieving teen-idol status - it was written and produced by Backstreet Boys collaborator Deniz Pop. The Backstreet Boys, as reported by MTV News July 2, are currently invading the U.S. after achieving mega-success internationally.
