Everything But The Girl's Ben Watt and Tracey Thorn currently have the number four single on the "Billboard" dance chart with "Five Fathoms," and their new album, "Temperamental," drops in stores on Tuesday.

The duo's latest LP is a sleek, sultry follow-up to 1996's "Walking Wounded," and the disc's nine tracks, a mix of drum-and-bass and deep house, all resonate with late-night loneliness. It's a feeling that producer and DJ Watt says evolved out of his own midnight ramblings through London's city streets.

"I was very much aware of how... when you live in a city, you desire communality, especially in evenings," Watt told MTV News. "You go out to drink or to dance or to be with people and maybe to meet someone, meet someone special. But so often you actually end up going home alone, and I found that kind of contrast between communality and alienation, like, really vivid at night." [RealVideo]

Watt and Thorn, who recently became parents to twin girls, are likely to tour the U.S. in the next year.
