Faith Evans returns to record stores today with her sophomore album, "Keeping the Faith," a particularly poignant title considering that the new record comes a little more than a year after the drive-by slaying of her husband, rapper Notorious BIG.
Evans married Biggie after a nine-day courtship in 1995, though they were estranged when he died. Evans is now in a new relationship, a union which has yielded a son, who is now four months old. In a recent interview with MTV News, Evans said she didn't regret anything in her past, a stance she believes is reflected on her new album. "I believe that everything that takes place in your life is your destiny," Evans said, "nobody plans out their life, no matter how much they really think they can. I never planned on, 'OK, I'm gonna meet a guy, we're gonna just get married right away." But it happened, so that's just what God panned my life out to be." "I don't regret it," she continued, "because it was a decision that I consciously made, nobody like made me do it, so I can't regret it at all. Things happen, everything happens for a reason and I'm at a point in my life right now where I'm happy, although I have had, I have had several things that took place in my life that were not happy times, [or] positive things, but I am happy once again and I just know that obviously that was my destiny."
