July 11 [16:00 EDT] -- Suddenly, everything 80s is new again, a trend that is not lost on the members of Duran Duran.
The band -- comprised, these days, of Nick Rhodes, Simon LeBon and Warren Cuccurullo -- is getting ready to release its13th album this fall. Called "Medazzaland," the record is scheduled for an October 14th release date.
According to the band's publicist, "Medazzaland" features twelve new tracks, with a sound that's reminiscent of the band's 1982 "Rio" record.
The first single off the record, "Electric Barbarella," pays homage in its title to "Barbarella," the film from which Duran Duran took its name. "Electric Barbarella" will hit the club scene in August, and should be released, along with the video, in September. The video for the single, which was just shot, features Britain's current "It" girl, 16-year-old Sophie Doll. She plays a mannequin that comes to life when batteries are placed in her back.
The band hasn't decided yet whether to tour in support of the record.
