After releasing its third album, "Traces of My Lipstick," last year, the members of the Atlanta-based R&B quartet Xscape are beginning to branch out from the group and work on their respective solo projects.

Xscape's LaTocha Scott is currently working on her solo debut, while her sister and bandmate Tamika, an ordained minister, is cutting some material for a gospel album. The remaining vocalists, Kandi Burruss and Tiny Cottle have also been busy writing songs, and the two recently penned TLC's current smash single, "No Scrubs."

Jermaine Dupri, who signed Xscape to his So So Def record label and who has been producing the group since its 1993 debut, "Hummin' Comin' at 'Cha," recently told the MTV Radio Network that he takes pride in seeing how the girls have gone on to succeed on their own merits.

"I think that it's beautiful," JD said of Xscape's individual accomplishments. "For me it's beautiful because it makes me really realize that out of everything that I try to teach [my artists] or whatever I try and do, it finally worked. It paid off, all of the cussing them out and making them do stuff over and singing songs they probably didn't like that I wrote for them. Now [Burruss and Cottle] got a number one record, so they got trained. I can only think that they was trained by me." [28.8 RealAudio]

"No Scrubs" appears on TLC's new album, "Fanmail," which has been lodged at number one on the Billboard Album Charts since its release last month. No word yet on release dates for any of Xscape's side and solo projects, but we'll keep you posted.
