March 12 [14:00 EST] -- En Vogue member Dawn Robinson has signed onto Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment and will record a solo album for the label with Dre as producer.
"This is a new adventure and we're going to put out a bomb album," Robinson said of her upcoming union with the rapper-turned-mogul.
"The music will have the same class and sophistication that (En Vogue) represented," Robinson promised, "but there's also a feistier, funkier street vibe to me, which has always been different from the other girls."
Dre added, "It's not often you meet an artist whose talent is as tight as their image. That's the winning combination that producers look for, and Dawn has it."
Robinson's solo stint does not mean the end of En Vogue. The singer is still very much involved with the group, and will not begin work on her solo effort until the new En Vogue offering (which is currently being recorded) is finished.
