Kurupt cracked this week's Top 10 with his new double-album, "Kuruption," the rapper's first full-length album since his 1995 record as Daz's partner in Tha Dogg Pound on "Dogg Food."
"Kuruption" is dedicated both to the East and West Coast, as Kurupt grew up in Philadelphia, but was part of Death Row Records' West Coast Sound.
Although Kurupt left the embattled label after the release of "Dogg Food," he still sought the help of his mentor, Dr. Dre, on a track off the new album entitled "Ask Yourself a Question."
Even though working with Dre almost caused the album's release to be delayed, Kurupt told MTV News that it was well worth it.
"It was the greatest," Kurupt said of working with Dre, he continued, "[that] just smacked me in my head and convinced me like, 'You got my whole next album, Dr. Dre.' You know definitely, I gotta have that, I never experienced that before. I used to pray that I could get an album [to sound] like that. [So] Dr. Dre gonna do our album, he will now have it, I'm not gonna play with it at all." [28.8 RealVideo]
Kurupt plans to make his own straight-to-video movie that will also be entitled "Kuruption," and hopes to start shooting the video film in the next month.
