Las Vegas will be ground zero for a star-studded music festival on October 29, and you can catch the whole shebang, free of charge, without leaving the comfort of your home.
The MGM Grand Hotel in Sin City will be playing host to iBash '99, an event that will feature performances by a diverse group of artists including The Dixie Chicks, The Offspring, Tony Bennett, Kiss, The Brian Setzer Orchestra, and headliners The Who. The entire festival will be cybercast at www.pixelon.com, and each performance will be broadcast from multiple cameras allowing viewers to choose which angle they wish to view the event from. The event, sponsored by Pixelon Corporation, an Internet broadcasting company, kicks off at 2 p.m. (PT) with a "Hottest Divas Of Country" showcase, featuring the Dixie Chicks along with Faith Hill, Chely Wright, and LeAnn Rimes. The festival will wrap up eight hours later when The Who hits the stage. Both shows, sporting $10 ticket prices, have already sold out. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit a number of Nevada and California charities, including the United Way of Southern Nevada, the Youth Camerata Orchestra, and the Actor's Repertory Theatre. The festival's other shows -- Kiss and The Offspring at the MGM Grand Adventures Theme Park (beginning at 6:30) and Tony Bennett and The Brian Setzer Orchestra at the MGM Producer's Pool (at 8:00) are not open to the public, though they can be viewed via the Pixelon Web site.-- Brian Ives
