Ani DiFranco, Tom Waits, Steve Earle, and Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder and Jeff Ament shared a stage in Los Angeles this past weekend, taking part in an anti-death penalty concert organized by actor Tim Robbins, who directed the death row drama, "Dead Man Walking." ["Dead Man" Benefit, 800k QuickTime]

After the show, DiFranco talked about the goal of raising people's awareness about the death penalty. "I think that the reason we have capital punishment is that there are a lot of people like me who haven't thought about it enough," DiFranco said. "So maybe we could put that question in people's minds. I'd feel very privileged to be a part of that." [400k Audio]

As we previously reported (see "Vedder, Tom Waits, Ani DiFranco Set For 'Dead Man' Benefit"), the concert was organized to aid Murder Victims' Families for Reconciliation, and the New Orleans-based Hope House, an agency with which "Dead Man Walking" author Sister Helen Prejean has been affiliated.
