Depeche Mode was back in the states recently, on location in New York City filming a video for "Only When I Lose Myself," the first single from the group's upcoming retrospective, "The Singles '86-'98."

The release of the new single will precede the band's first tour of the U.S. since 1994, a tour which left lead singer David Gahan physically and emotionally exhausted and despondent.

"We made mistakes with our last tour," Fletcher told the MTV Radio Network,

The Depeche Mode singles collection arrives in stores in October, and a tribute album to the British electropop album is due out August 4 (see "Pumpkins, Cure, Deftones, Gus Gus, Rammstein, Others Toast Depeche Mode.")
