Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez... and Oscar de la Hoya?
The reigning WBC Welterweight champ, who demonstrated some of his out-of-the-ring skills by singing for the Miami-based, Spanish-language talk show "Cristina" last year, is now apparently looking to become the latest artist to cash in on the current Latin music boom. According to "Variety," the boxer has just inked a multi-album recording deal with EMI Latin, former label of the late Selena, to produce LPs for both English and Spanish-speaking audiences. No word yet on whom might work with de la Hoya on his debut record, although the report indicated that he has been training with vocal coach Seth Riggs. Don't expect the boxer to head into a studio anytime soon, however, as he is currently getting ready for a September 18 title unification fight against current IBF Welterweight champ Felix Trinidad in Las Vegas. De la Hoya is expected to take home over $10 million for that bout alone.
