MTV News spoke to Daft Punk recently -- by phone of course -- and when asked why all the secrecy, Bangalter explained that they feel that their music should take precedence over their image.

Says Bangalter, "The music seems to be less important than the people themselves, and we really consider that it should be the other way around. So that's true that it was a hard way to get that accepted, not appearing on TV or wearing masks for photos and stuff, but everything so far has been quite well accepted." [350k QuickTime]

Daft recently wrapped up another video you won't see their faces in, for the track "Revolution 909."
