After wrapping up a short, pre-holiday promo tour in support of the new Cypress Hill record, "IV," the group's DJ Muggs headed back into a studio to start work on several new projects, including one with brooding trip-hopper Tricky.

According to Muggs, the two have already recorded the majority of the music for the album and plan to share vocal duties on the record, an album he describes as "experimental."

"You get bored," Muggs said in an interview with the MTV Radio Network, "it's just time to do other things. I'll keep doing hip-hop, but I like how brothers like Rick Rubin did his thing in hip-hop, and then just moved out and did other things. I like music, so I feel I can do any kind of music out there and come back and do hip-hop, too."

Although Tricky and Muggs are still undecided about their group name, the duo does plan to release the album in the summer via Tricky's label, Island Records, and are considering a one-off performance together in New York City around the same time.

Meanwhile, Muggs says he still has a few more tracks to lay down for "DJ Muggs Presents the Soul Assassins: Volume 2," including one with Goodie M.O.B., who also appeared on the first album."

"Volume 2" is expected to arrive in early April, coinciding with Cypress Hill's plans to hit the road for a full-scale tour.
