R&B chanteuse and native Canadian Deborah Cox, who struck gold with her second solo album, "One Wish," helped the Lilith Fair wrap up its third and final outing by performing at the tour finale in Edmonton, Alberta on Tuesday.
Earlier this year, Cox set out on the road as part of R. Kelly's ill-fated "Get Up on a Room" tour (see "R. Kelly To Scale Back Tour Plans"), but left that tour early and took a month off before hooking up for the launch of the female music festival on July 8 in Vancouver, British Columbia. At Lilith's last stand, Cox talked with MTV's Chris Connelly about the effect and the impact that the Lilith exposure had on both her and her fans. "The audience gets a chance to be really exposed to all types of different music," Cox said of Lilith's legacy. "I think that a lot of the times we underestimate the audience. We think that a person that has a Sheryl Crow CD in their CD player won't have a Deborah Cox CD. And that's not true. I have both Sarah [McLachlan] and Sheryl [Crow] in my collection. So I listen to all types of music, and I know that the fans and the audience do, too." [RealVideo] Cox has just issued "We Can't Be Friends" as the third single from "One Wish," featuring guest vocals from Next's R.L. Cox will also serve as a host for this year's Lady of Soul Awards being taped on September 3 at the Civic Auditorium in Santa Monica, California.-- Andrea Duncan
