Dec. 12, 1996 -- Soundgarden's triumphant return to Seattle has been put on hold for a week.
The group was to play two sold out homecoming shows, December 10 and 11, at Mercer Arena, but had to postpone the dates when singer Chris Cornell developed a bronchial infection. The Soundgarden singer has been battling a cold for a week, and he apparently lost.
The band is still looking forward to the shows, which have been rescheduled for December 17 and 18. Fans holding tickets for the December 10 show will be admitted on December 17, and tickets for December 11 will be honored on December 18. Formerly hopeful ticketholders who now require refunds should note that the deadline for refunds is Monday, December 16 at 6 p.m.
