It's been two years since Seattle's Soundgarden called it quits, and now former frontman Chris Cornell is about to release his first solo album, the bluesy and bravely experimental "Euphoria Morning."
While the album does include some mid-tempo rockers, Cornell's new work is surprisingly mellow, ranging from the sweet but sly Beatles influence of the first single, "Can't Change Me," [RealAudio] to "Wave Goodbye," a soulful tribute to the late singer-songwriter Jeff Buckley.
As Cornell recently related to MTV News' Chris Connelly, making a solo record shouldn't equate glorified ego-tripping.
"It's not a situation to be overindulgent, I don't think," Cornell told Connelly,
Cornell will be delivering his new material on a five-city mini-tour which kicks off on September 13 in Boston, just prior to the September 21 release of "Euphoria Morning" (see "Chris Cornell To Preview Solo Record On Short Tour").
