December 23 [12:00 EDT] -- Coolio has joined the growing list of artists who are giving something back to the communities that shaped them this holiday season.
Tuesday marks the second day of the rapper's "Caravan of Giving" which brings Coolio and his wife Josefa Salinas to the streets of Los Angeles to offer toys, clothing, and food to needy families in his hometown.
The drive kicked off Monday as Coolio visited parks and recreation centers throughout L.A. and took a hands-on approach to the project.
"That's the fun part about it, the part that means the most to me," the rapper said in a written statement. "I don't want anyone doing it for me, it's a group effort, a family affair with my wife, kids and staff. The most important thing is for these kids to feel like someone does care."
The charitable move could help swing Coolio's karma in a more positive direction after the rapper was recently arrested by German police who accused him of shoplifting. The rapper faced no official charges in the incident, and finished his European tour without incident. He plans to return to the road early next year.
