Coolio pleaded innocent yesterday at Southwest Superior Court in Torrance, California, to a charge of carrying a concealed weapon, according to AP. He now must appear for a pretrial hearing on March 3.

Coolio, known to the judge as Artis Leon Ivey Jr., was cited last September after police approached his Humvie in the Los Angeles suburb of Lawnsdale when they say they saw him driving on the wrong side of the road. The musician allegedly admitted to the officers that he had a gun in a door pouch. A deputy confiscated a 9 mm semiautomatic pistol, and the rapper was subsequently charged with with being a convict in possession of a concealed weapon in a vehicle.

As previously reported by MTV News (see "Coolio Arrested On Weapons, Drug Charges"), Coolio says he had pulled over to the wrong side of the road to let his kids out of the vehicle while on his way to meet his wife at a shooting range.

A court in Stuttgart, Germany, recently convicted the Grammy-winning rap star of being an accessory to robbery and causing bodily injury over an altercation in a clothing store (see "Coolio Sentenced To Probation, Monetary Fine For German Assault Charges"). He was put on six months probation and fined $30,000 fine. His American charges, however, will not affect his German probabtion, or vice-versa.
