While Coolio is busy juggling his current film projects -- including one screenplay co-written by "Remote Control" alumnus Colin Quinn -- the rapper has just landed a deal to star in a TV pilot for a potential series on UPN.
The new show is being spun-off from UPN's existing program "Malcolm & Eddie," and will feature Coolio as a stay-home dad married to the family's bread-winner, according to "Variety." "Malcolm & Eddie" co-star Malcolm Jamal Warner will direct the pilot and is expected to serve in an executive capacity if the series gets picked up for next fall. In related news, the UPN series "Moesha," which stars vocalist Brandy, is also being eyed to produce a spin-off series of its own, although the details for that pilot have not been announced. Coolio is next expected to complete work on "Tyrone," a film that features the rapper in a triad of roles and which is expected to arrive on screens by the end of the year.
