In the wake of this week's edition of the "Village Voice," which has an article about the wrongful death lawsuits against Puff Daddy, spokespeople for Sean "Puffy" Combs say that the Grammy-winning artist is in talks to reach a possible settlement for eight out of the nine wrongful death lawsuits that were filed against Combs and four others over a 1991 incident at the City College Of New York.
In 1991, nine people were crushed to death in a stampede to get into a rap basketball event, which was sponsored and promoted by Combs and rapper Heavy D., along with the CCNY Student Council. The city and state of New York, and the security company that worked the event, are also named in the suits.
The family of the ninth victim will not settle, and hearings on their case are set for mid-March.
