Seminal rap outfit Public Enemy were blending rap and rock as early as 1991 when they collaborated with Anthrax for a re-recording of their anthem "Bring The Noise."

Now, in 1998, members of the group are planning a rap/rock fusion project called Confrontation Camp. PE member Professor Griff, who recently released his new solo album "Blood of the Prophet," has already issued a warning to some rock acts, both active and inactive.

"Rage Against The Machine, Soundgarden, Kings X, Alice In Chains... move over. Confrontation Camp is coming in 1999," Griff declared via the MTV Radio Network.

The group also includes Griff's PE partner Chuck D and singer Kyle Jason, and boasts a sound that Griff describes as an "alternative aggressive rock, soul, poetry kind of thing." Musically, he says the group will bring "beats that's gonna stick to the ribs and knock the drunk out of the average college student."

Drunk college students everywhere will be pleased to learn that a release date has not been nailed down yet for Confrontation Camp, but Griff's solo album is in stores now.
