Cher is making a surprising run on the charts these days, thanks in part to a new single, "Believe," which has already conquered the top of the U.K. charts and which currently stands at number 13 on this week's "Billboard" Hot 100.
The singer sat down recently with MTV News' Kurt Loder to talk about the album, as well as her new look -- and recounted a rather unlikely phone conversation she had with Marilyn Manson. "Actually I did [call Marilyn Manson]," Cher told Kurt, "I wanted to ask him some advice." "What did you want to ask him," Loder asked. "I wanted to ask him who would be good for my video," she said, "And then we just started talking." "Was he surprised to hear from you?" he said. "No, he knows my son, Elijah," Cher answered, "so I don't think he was so surprised." "What kind of advice did he give you?" inquired Kurt. "It was very technical," she said, "like, 'Don't spend more than this. I think this guys okay, I think this guys okay, but what kind of footage...' He knew what kind of footage, [and asked] what kind of film do you want to use, what kind of camera are you interested in? You know I thought I was into it, but he's very, very into it" [28.8 RealVideo]
