The Chemical Brothers, the U.K. masters of electronica whose "Block Rockin' Beats" helped pave the way for Prodigy to break big, plans to release a DJ-styled album of remixes and rarities in August.
According to "Billboard Online," the duo of Ed Simmons and Tom Rowlands have cut-up some of their previously released songs for the record, entitled "Brothers Gonna Work It Out." The album will also feature Chemical Brothers B-sides and tracks from the duo remixed by others, including "Losing Control" by DBX and "Block Rockin' Beats" by the French group the Micronauts.
Simmons and Rowlands have also selected and reworked a few older songs by other artists for the new album, a move that harks back to the Brothers' earlier gigs as DJ's and which a representative for the group says will "reflect their true sources and influences."
The Chemical Brothers won a Grammy award for Best Instrumental earlier this year for "Block Rockin' Beats" [515k QuickTime].
