Soul singer Eric Benét is the latest musician to join the cast of Mariah Carey's forthcoming rags-to-riches flick "All That Glitters," a project that is currently before the lens on location in Toronto.
Benét, who previously had a small role in the WB series "For Your Love," won't have to stretch too much in his feature film debut, as he's set to play an R&B singer named Ceasar in "All That Glitters."
In addition to Carey and Benét, rapper Da Brat plays Carey's best friend in the flick, which details the dramatic rise to fame of a young singer (Carey) from a foster home in the inner-city projects.
"All That Glitters," directed by Vondie Curtis-Hall, is scheduled to film in Toronto and New York City through the end of September, and is tentatively set for release in March 2001.
In addition to the movie career, Benét is also working on his third solo album, the follow-up to his 1999 sophomore effort, "A Day In The Life," which has sold more than 752,000 copies, according to SoundScan.
