Busta Rhymes and Everclear are among a new wave of pitchmen lending their names and faces to the Sci Fi Channel.

In an effort to hip up its image, the cable network has reached out to the musicians as well as former WWF personality Sable, Virgin empire head Richard Branson, and tennis pros Serena and Venus Williams to appear in a new line of promo spots for the channel. The network has also approached talk show host Craig Kilborn, Internet pin-up girl Cindy Margolis, and actress Traci Lords about appearing in the ads, but has not confirmed their participation yet.

In Busta's 30-second promo, the rapper will be spotted with his trademark dreadlocks wired into eight different turntables as he surges energy into each one. All the promos will end with the artists declaring, "I am sci fi."

Meanwhile, Everclear's spot sees the band step into an elevator (one equipped with a Muzak version of the band's "I Will Buy You A New Life" no less) and join a female passenger. Frontman Art Alexakis soon finds himself having to quiet some otherworldly sounds coming from his guitar case.

The promos should be airing in the coming weeks.
