Their new album won't be out until November, but the proper English gentlemen of Bush will roll out the first salvo from the effort next month in the form of "The Chemicals Between Us," the LP's first single.
The song is expected to hit radio on September 9, though the band has been previewing the track during its recent club gigs (see "Bush Debuts New Tracks At Club Dates"). The group will hook up with director Paul Hunter (who has handled clips for Jennifer Lopez, Will Smith, and Marilyn Manson) in Los Angeles later this month to shoot a video for the track. Bush is scheduled to deliver "The Science of Things" to record stores on November 2 and now seems to be up and running after a year of legal hassles with its record label. The band played a strong set at Woodstock '99, peppering the set with new tunes as well as surprise covers, such as R.E.M.'S "The One I Love." Of course, that immediately calls to mind Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale's longtime flame, Gwen Stefani, who herself is currently working on a new album with No Doubt. The band is aiming for a November 16 release date for its still-untitled new album, and it headed back into the studio last week to record three more tracks with producer Glen Ballard.
