One week after police visited his South Carolina home to escort him to a hospital, soul pioneer James Brown is reportedly facing drug and weapons charges.
The Associated Press reports that Brown turned himself into police on Tuesday and was charged with simple possession of marijuana and unlawful use of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.
Police reportedly visited the singer's home earlier this month to escort Brown to a Columbia, South Carolina hospital under a Probate Court order (see "James Brown Hospitalized, Agent Points To Painkillers"). The AP reports that at that time, police found evidence that lead to the charges.
When Brown was taken to the hospital, Brown agent told the Associated Press that the cause of the singer's hospitalization was an addiction to painkillers, but upon the singer's release, the agent told reporters that, "Everybody's making a big deal out of nothing" (see "James Brown Released From Hospital").
