Almost a year after facing the wrath of an unruly crowd in Buenos Aires, Argentina while opening for the Rolling Stones, Meredith Brooks has returned to a studio to cut a new album, and has landed rapper Queen Latifah to drop some verses on the track "Lay Down."

Brooks and Latifah are scheduled to record the song today at Capitol Records studio in Hollywood, and Brooks has also invited the choir from local area Crenshaw High School to participate in the "Lay Down" sessions as well.

Brooks is currently in the midst of cutting the follow-up to her 1997 multi-platinum debut, "Blurring the Edges," with co-producer David Darling. The album is tentatively titled "Deconstruction" and will feature songwriting collaborations with "Bitch" co-writer Shelly Peiken and Corrs' producers Rick Nowels and Billy Steinberg.

A release date for "Deconstruction" has yet to be set, but we'll keep you posted.
