Jan. 7 [12:00 EST] -- The Internet will be oozing with birthday cheer when David Bowie turns 50 on Wednesday. Several webites will mark the occasion by featuring five previously unreleased tracks from the Thin White Duke.
Sonicnet (sonicnet.com), AudioNet (audionet.com), and Bowie¹s own website (davidbowie.com) will be among the sites offering up the songs, which Bowie himself chose for the event. The cyber-release will include:
- A version of Chuck Berry's "Round & Round" that was recorded recorded during the 1971 "Ziggy" sessions in London.
- An acoustic rendition of "The Man Who Sold The World" from rehearsals for Neil Young's Bridge School Benefit concert. on October 19-20, 1996.
- A version of Bowie's classic "Rebel Rebel" from 1973 that features the birthday boy himself playing all the instruments.
- A live version of "Scary Monsters" from the Phoenix Festival in England in July 1996.
- A remix of Bowie's upcoming single, "Little Wonder," by Danny Saber.
