Motown A&R executive and co-owner of the promotions company, Bone-N-Wen, Derek "Chuck Bone" Osorio, has recently heard from lawyers representing the rap act, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.
A statement to Osorio from the law firm of Katz, Cohen, & Smith said, "It recently came to our attention that you may co-own and operate a music related promotion company operating under the mark Bone-N-Wen [which] consists of two dominant elements comprising our client's Bone Thugs-N-Harmony mark, namely, the "Bone" and "-N-....".
The statement goes on to say that Bone Thugs-N-Harmony fear that people will make the mistake that Bone-N-Wen are somehow affiliated with BTH.
Bone-N-Wen is co-owned by fellow party promoter and Island Records exec, Wendell Haskins. Osorio and Haskins founded their company in 1993.
Chuck Bone says that he intends to keep his name and that he was using it before the Cleveland based rappers put it on their debut album in 1994.
