August 12 [14:00 EDT] -- Blur frontman Damon Albarn will reportedly step into a role in an upcoming British radio play originally penned for the Beatles.

The British wire service PA reports that Albarn will appear in the Radio 3 production of "Up Against It," which the late Joe Orton wrote for the Beatles before his death in August of 1967. Orton was reportedly commissioned by Beatles management to write the play for the group, but the project was then shelved due to unsavory content and foul language.

The PA reports that the play will be revived, with Albarn on board, to mark the thirtieth anniversary of Orton's passing.
