A bench warrant has been issued for Bad Boy Entertainment recording artist Black Rob after the rapper failed to show up at a Manhattan court on Friday afternoon to face drug and weapon charges.
As we first reported last week, the 31-year-old rapper (real name Robert Ross) was arrested on May 21 after undercover police allegedly saw Black Rob hand a .22 caliber handgun to an acquaintance in his car. Police also allege that they found tablets of Ecstasy in the vehicle (see "UPDATE: Black Rob Arrested On Weapon, Drug Charges").
Black Rob and the man police say was in the rapper's car at the time of the arrest, Kwamie Thomas, have both been charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
A June 13 court date has been set for the rapper. If he is picked up by authorities prior to that date, Black Rob will be brought in on his warrant.
Black Rob has been one of Bad Boy's brightest stars this year, as his debut album, "Life Story," has sold more than 718,000 copies since its March release.
