If the Technicolor daydream that is the Barenaked Ladies video for "One Week" has a familiar look to it, then you are no stranger to the work of video visionary McG.
The director's résumé reads like a chart of the top modern rock tracks of the last year, including Smash Mouth's "Walking on the Sun" [1.3MB QuickTime], Fastball's "The Way" [1MB QuickTime], and Sugar Ray's "Fly" [1MB QuickTime], and gave the Canadian band plenty of confidence in his ability to make a sleek video that effectively complements the song ["One Week" Video, 700k QuickTime].
"Seeing McG real and seeing all the amazing videos he's done makes you realize he can actually pull all this insanity off," said Ed Robertson, "and make it look great. He's so excellent; he just brings such incredible energy to a video shoot."
"I mean he talked to us about doing a video with stunts and dancing girls and the whole thing," added Steven Page, "and we knew that if it wasn't the right guy, [the video] would look half-assed ... and he pulled it off 100%.

"Like 100% ass!" [700k QuickTime] Page concluded.
Barenaked Ladies' work with McG is only one sign of the group's move from cult status to major stardom. The band's latest album, "Stunt," recently debuted at number three on the album chart, and the Ladies are currently playing the main stage of this summer's H.O.R.D.E. tour with Alana Davis, Ben Harper, and Blues Traveler. The tour plays Cincinnati on Wednesday.
