Feb. 26 [7:55 EST] -- The man of the year at Wednesday night's Grammy Awards looks likely to be the multi-talented Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, who's nominated in 12 categories.

The singer, songwriter, and producer could bring home honors for "album of the year" (for his production of the "Waiting To Exhale" soundtrack) among others.

According to Mr. 'Face, the restraints of scoring a film can be a bit tighter than writing songs.

"With this record it was working very close with (director) Forrest Whittaker, because I didn't want to write anything and have him say I don't want it in the film," Babyface told MTV News.

"So I had to make sure he approved everything I wrote, so in that sense it was kind of hands chained to a certain extent, because normally there is a little bit more freedom in terms of when I write this, this is how it's gonna be. But it was cool though."

The Grammy show gets underway at 8 p.m. Wednesday night, and we'll be covering the pre-show commotion in a one-hour live broadcast called "Backstage At The Grammys," which'll start at 7, and we'll be back with a live wrap-up at 11 p.m.
