June 16 [12:00 EDT] -- Billboard magazine reports that Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds has signed on to co-produce a remake of the cult flick "The Idolmaker," a fictional account of a songwriter-turned-rock producer guiding his clients to pop idol status.

The original film was based on Bob Marcucci, who guided Frankie Avalon and Fabian to fame and fortune in the fifties.

Babyface will work on the movie as well as help coordinate the soundtrack.
