If you think that Fiona Apple's acceptance speech at the 1997 MTV VMAs was a little too long, wait until you hear the title for her next album, and then try repeating it.
Due in stores on November 9, the follow-up to Apple's 1996 "Tidal" is titled "When the Pawn Hits the Conflicts He Thinks Like a King What He Knows Throws the Blows When He Goes to the Fight and He'll Win the Whole Thing 'Fore He Enters the Ring There's No Body to Batter When Your Mind Is Your Might So When You Go Solo, You Hold Your Own Hand and Remember That Depth Is the Greatest of Heights and If You Know Where You Stand, The You Know Where to Land and If You Fall It Won't Matter, 'Cuz You'll Know That You're Right." As previously reported (see "Fiona Apple Prepares 'Tidal' Follow-Up"), the album was produced by Jon Brion, who played guitar, percussion and keyboards on "Tidal." The first single from the album, "Fast As You Can," will be released commercially on October 5.
