The metal band Anthrax has been flooded with e-mail and piles of press lately, thanks to the recent scary incident involving the FBI arrest of two men suspected of plotting to release the fatal Anthrax bacteria in the New York subway system.
Those two suspects have been cleared of any charges, but the members of Anthrax hope the incident won't leave America's collective consciousness anytime soon.
Anthrax's manager says they haven't been approached by the FBI, but he wouldn't be surprised if they got a call from authorities once they start promoting the band's new album, due on June 23, with posters saying "Anthrax: The Threat Is Real."
The Album, called "Volume 8," also features Pantera's Phil Anselmo and guitarist Dimebag Darell. Anthrax hopes to launch it with a performance in... the subway.
The band's manager says, "If it weren't so serious, it would be fun." Reacting to the media blitz, Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian told the "New York Times," "I was like, what did we do? I didn't break into Yankee Stadium again." Ian was of course referring to his arrest last year for trying to swipe a chair and a mat from the field at Spring training.
Meanwhile, Ian turns up on Tricky's new album, "Angels With Dirty Faces," this May, and Anthrax plays on Puff Daddy's song, "Victory," the video Puffy is currently working on.
