Despite rumors to the contrary, singer Marc Anthony will not be starring in a production of Federico García Lorca's "Blood Wedding" being staged at the La Jolla Playhouse in La Jolla, California from May 30 to July 2.

The Playhouse's Director of Communications, Josh Ellis, told MTV News that the cast for "Blood Wedding" will be announced on Monday, April 24, and he categorically denied Anthony's involvement in the play.

Last month, "Playbill" reported that Anthony was in discussions to make his return to the dramatic stage for the first time since appearing in the failed Paul Simon musical, "The Capeman" (see "Marc Anthony Pondering Theatrical Return").

In other Marc Anthony news, the salsa singer will be appearing as a special guest for Gloria Estefan's upcoming TV special, "Caribbean Soul: The Atlantis Concert," being taped on April 29 at Paradise Island (no, not the one from "Wonder Woman") in the Bahamas.

CBS plans to air Estefan's "Caribbean Soul" concert on May 12 at 8 p.m. (ET/PT)

As for Anthony, he's planning to head back on the road in June to continue to support his self-titled new album, which has sold more than 1.5 million copies, according to SoundScan, and is currently number 28 on the "Billboard" album charts.

Anthony has also been confirmed as one of the featured performers at next week's Latin Music Awards (see "Marc Anthony, Mana To Play Latin Music Awards"), as well as the Wango Tango 2000 show on May 13 at Los Angeles' Dodger Stadium (see "'NSYNC, Goo Goo Dolls, McKnight To Wango Tango").
