Tori Amos, who's just released her new album, "from the choirgirl hotel," wraps us a small club tour Wednesday night at the El Rey Theater in Los Angeles.

The tour, which was her first with a full backing band, is just a warm-up for her just announced summer tour, which launches on July 15 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and wraps up on September 22 in Los Angeles.

When MTV got Tori together with some of her fans recently, she talked about her reasons for not playing one of her songs, the harrowing a cappella number, "Me and a Gun," during her club tour.

"She's just resting right now," Amos said, personifying the song. "She's been so there and so present. She'll be around, but she's been so there, for so many shows, more than any other song, she's been there."

"When we started this tour," she added, "I was walking down the street one night in London and she just said to me, 'Let the other girls go with the band, there's going to be so much yipper-yapper and chatter and na-na-na and I don't want to be out there yet. [900k QuickTime] I need a little piña colada, by the sands and just let me rest for a couple of weeks.'"

Amos will play a free show this Thursday in Los Angeles at a concert sponsored by KROQ to be held at the parking lot of the Palace Theater.
